Too Good To Be True by Prajakta Koli
Hello Everyone!
This is your girl, Manasvi. So, today I’m reviewing the book called Too Good To Be True by Prajakta Koli.
(Spoiler alert, so don’t come at me later!)
Prajakta Koli’s debut novel feels like what would happen if a Pinterest board, a Wattpad romance, and your overthinking brain had a love child. The story follows Avani, a law student who works part-time at a bookstore (I mean... dream job, right?), and somehow ends up in a slow-burn romance with Aman Raina, a billionaire CEO. Yeah, I know, billionaire plus bookstore girl sounds totally random, but weirdly enough, it kind of works. Their first encounter is something straight out of a K-drama and honestly, I was here for it.
Avani is basically all of us during those 2 a.m. overthinking sessions. She’s sarcastic, a little messy, ambitious but also confused, and constantly doubting if she’s enough. Her inner monologues had me laughing because, honestly, who hasn’t replayed awkward conversations or arguments way too many times in their head? The writing is super casual, like you’re chatting with your best friend while scrolling Instagram. It’s simple, relatable, and you just keep turning pages without even noticing. And Aman? This guy is way too perfect. Rich, kind, emotionally mature, reads books, listens when you talk. I was low-key waiting for some big flaw or secret. (Spoiler: none came).
Okay, the plot can be a little predictable, and if you’ve watched Mismatched, some scenes will definitely feel familiar. So no, it doesn’t reinvent the romance genre. But it does give off a warm, happy vibe that’s hard to resist. The pace is smooth and never too heavy, which is honestly a relief when you just want to chill and escape for a bit. What really stood out for me wasn’t the romance. It was the friendships. Avani’s squad brought all the chaos, comfort, and funny moments that made the story feel real. Their conversations reminded me of late-night chats with my own friends, full of jokes, support, and those little things that make friendships special.
So why should you read this book? If you want something light, fun, and filmy, this one’s for you. It’s not deep or dramatic, but that’s exactly why it’s so enjoyable. It gives you secondhand butterflies, a few relatable laughs, and a warm, cozy feeling, like chilling with your favorite playlist on a lazy Sunday. Perfect for when your brain needs a break and your heart wants a little romance.
